What is it about Brits and round the world adventures, here's another one, around the world by bike. "70,000 miles, 5 continents, 50 countries. Alone and on a bicycle. No buses, no hitching, no support vehicles." Alastair Humphreys has been on the road since 2001 has done Europe, Africa and South America. Last report has him in Arizona headed for the Bering Straits. Hope he gets a chance to say hello to Karl Bushby on his way.

Just when you think your life is challenging, then you run across people who have a quest in their lives. Check out Karl Bushby, a Brit who has decided to walk around the world in the longest unbroken walk around the world. He has walked from the tip of South America to Alaska, plans to walk across the Bering Strait, across Asia and Europe , through the Chunnel back home to England. A journey of 36,000 miles and over ten years! We join him five plus years into his journey, over 10,000 miles under his boots, somewhere in Northern Canada. Wow, I wish I had a chance to wish him well when he passed through Calgary in July of 2003.

For some reason the topic of ozone generators came up, probably for their odour killing properties, since there was this strange odour coming from the cat's room. So we went off on an internet search for homemade ozone generator plans. Turns out certain indoor farmers also like the odour killing properties of ozone. The plans they had for an ozone generator are extremely simple, a high voltage source, metal plate seperated by glass and a fan. So step one was finding a reasonably priced hi voltage source. A few calls later I am the proud owner of a used 6500 volt transformer. Another call and two pieces of aluminum window screen are delivered to my mail slot (thanks Led.) So here are the plans for an ozone generator. Take one high voltage transformerer 5000 volts to 10,000 volts hook up to two pieces of aluminum screen sandwiched around the 8x10 glass from a picture frame. Mount it in a wooden box with a fan to blow air through it and you have the "Ozonator". I take no responsibilty if you build one of these. Ozone is dangerous in high concentrations and 6500 volts is enough to curl your hair. This baby pumps out enough ozone to smell through out our 3 floors in less than 15 minutes.
